SWEAT LODGE: Austin Heavy Psych Act Signs With Ripple Music; New Track From Upcoming Album Talismana Streaming Now On Bandcamp

Austin, TX's heavy psychedelic act SWEAT LODGE has signed with Ripple Music and their new album, Talismana, will be out in early 2015. Keep an eye out for more details in the coming weeks, but for now, you can get a taste of the new album by clearing yourself an area to rock out and streaming the infectiously groovy track "Slow Burn" on Bandcamp.

Listen to Sweat Lodge's new track "Slow Burn" now at THIS LOCATION.

Sweat Lodge are aptly named, as the sound produced by this Austin TX, vibe tribe is best experienced in a dark, smoke filled room. Eschewing modern tendencies in heavy music to rely on brute force, the group combines epic, technical songwriting with enough neolithic heaviness to keep the cavemen happy. Beginning as a bass/drums/vox trio in summer 2010, the band developed a groove-laden sound that relied on Caleb Dawson’s heavy yet nuanced backbeat and the saturated tone of Austin “The Shock” Shockley's gnarled bass-fuzz, laying the foundation for singer Cody Lee's soaring vocals. As heard on their cardinal self-titled 7” recorded the following year with Orville Neeley (OBN III’s, Bad Sports etc.) the tight, dynamic rhythm section and commanding vocals deliver the songs expertly, but their ambition to expand sonically would require the addition of 6-string guitar. Enter guitarist Javier Gardea and permanent addition to the groups lineup, guitarist Dustin Anderson, who play off of one another to create a web of intricate melodic sections matched with one-ton riffs and passages of hypnotic psychedelia. In the two years since, the group’s sound has gotten bigger and better, culminating in the recording of the group’s first LP.

The debut full-length Talismana tackles the ponderous concept of man finding his place in the universe and the many physical and spiritual hurdles one faces in the process. In using the concept of the talisman as protection against evil and vice as well as a catalyst for change in the self and society as a whole, frontman Lee uses his songs as a platform to address the metaphysical and psychological plight of modern man through the lense of ancient wisdom and magical practice. Much like the ceremonial lodge which inspired their name, the music of Sweat Lodge offers enlightenment and purification to those who can stand the heat.

Look for more info on Talismana, Sweat Lodge's Ripple Music debut album, in the coming weeks!

STUBB: Exquisite Rock Odyssey Cry Of The Ocean Out Now Via Ripple Music

London, England's heavy psychedelic trio Stubb has released their exquisitely intricate sophomore album, Cry Of The Ocean, via Ripple Music. Some critical acclaim for this exquisite piece of heavy rock:

"Cry of the Ocean is undoubtedly a release of superb heartwarming, hard rocking soulfulness."
- Ninehertz

"For the dedicated music fan, hearing a great new album is rather akin to the feeling that a gourmet gets when introduced to a particularly tasty meal. The pulse quickens, the heart pulses and a sense of excitement. It is just this feeling that strikes when you are introduced to the flaming guitars and psychedelic visions of London’s mighty Stubb.”
- Sonic Abuse

"A more complex offering...and in case you're worried, there's no shortage of fuzz, either."
- The Obelisk

Cry Of The Ocean can also be purchased at the Ripple Music store on LP HERE and CD HERE.

The power trios of the late '60s and early '70s are the blueprint for Stubb’s loud, hard-driving, fuzzed-up heavy blues rock. The band recorded their first full length album for UK label Superhot Records, and hit the road, gigging with such heavy rock luminaries as the Gentlemans Pistols, Firebird, Cherry Choke, Steak, Sungrazer and The Machine as well as playing to a packed house at Desertfest. Making the trip over to Europe twice with Stone Axe from the USA further cemented Stubb's reputation as a solid live act with some serious chops. Quickly, their debut album sold out and fans of heavy rock have been waiting eagerly for their sophomore effort. Now, Ripple Music is proud to deliver Cry of the Ocean, a blissed-out new album that will cement Stubb’s place in the hierarchy of elite heavy rock bands.

Ripple Music and GEEZER: New York-Based Psychedelic Blues Trio Announce Worldwide Release of Gage

Though Kingston, NY's blues-based stoner/psych trio Geezer originally released their 2014 EP Gage on VERY limited vinyl through STB Records, selling out almost immediately, Ripple Music is now teaming up with STB to release the worldwide version on February 9th in Europe/UK and February 10th in North America.

More on the tale of Geezer...

In a dark corner of an old dusty metal shop, alongside the menacing blasts of industrial age freight trains, that’s where the sound was forged. Where the rusted steel of a bygone era meets the ancient spirits of legendary mountains, that’s where the reckoning came to be. As a whole greater than it’s parts (and a whole lotta noise along the way), a beacon arose from the valley below and brought forth a new sense of old ways and a recalibration of doctrine.

In other words: Geezer lays down thick heavy grooves rooted in the tradition of pre-war slide guitar blues, while simultaneously breaking boundaries through sonic experimentation and improvisation. Known for their mind-bending live performances, Geezer has shared the stage with some of the heaviest hitters around, including Wo Fat, The Midnight Ghost Train, Lo-Pan, Gozu and Borracho, as well as Volume IV, Order Of The Owl, Kings Destroy and others at The Eye Of The Stoned Goat Festival in Worchester, MA.

Listen to Gage EP in its entirety here:
https://geezertown.bandcamp.com/album/gage

Geezer is:
Pat Harrington - guitar, vocals
Freddy Villano - bass
Chris Turco - drums

“The bass is a leviathan of low end rumble, the blues guitar forging molten riffs of iron and steel, and the drum work massive and purposeful.”
- Heavy Planet

“It's a powerful and soothing expression of nearly a hundred years of music placed upon an altar that a thousand giants built and cherished, and this one may stand the test of time in ways that will continue to define the genre for a long time to come. Yes, it's that damn good.”
- The Ripple Effect

“The whole thing sounds like a peyote trip in the desert. Languid guitar passages swirl visibly like heat rising from a long stretch of highway asphalt. You can taste the sand in your teeth, smell the chopper fumes, feel the urge to finally find solace in a dusty saloon. This shit works.”

WHITE LIGHT CEMETERY: Louisiana-Based Heavy Blues Act Signs With Ripple Music; Release Slated For Mid 2015

Lafayette, Louisiana's bluesy southern rock outfit WHITE LIGHT CEMETERY is the latest band to sign with bay-area heavy-riff label Ripple Music. Though an exact release date has yet to be set for the new album, look for an announcement in the coming months.

In 2011 White Light Cemetery released their first EP, Crow Sessions, cementing their sound as a bluesy amalgamation of influences like Lynrd Sknyrd, Pantera, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Crowbar and Deep Purple. The band has gained a sizable following in Louisiana and the attention of many southern rock/metal fans throughout south, opening for a wide range on national acts, most notably Down, Goatwhore and Crowbar. After the "Band of Brothers on the Bayou Tour" opening for the Kyle Turley Band in the summer of 2013, White Light Cemetery entered the studio and released a full length album followed by a stint with Crowbar as main support for the "Crushing the South" tour.

Past praise for White Light Cemetery:

“White Light Cemetery is a low chugging band of Southern brother-dudes, cranking out dirty metal and corrosion steel...If you like pulverizing riffage, thunder sounds and diamond bags filled with white lightning seeds, you will dig them too.”  -Dege Legg, The Pipeline on The IND

“I have a soft spot for this type of sound, heavy rock in the spirit of Down and Black Label Society, mixing Sabbath riffing with Southern warmth a la Lynyrd Skynyrd. But still, it's a type of music that can be easily done in the wrong way, if it lacks heart and skill, and drop into a simple copy of stuff that's already been played. Doesnt happen here. Where other bands in the same mold seem to have failed recently, White Light Cemetery gives five tracks of great riffs, heavy beauty and warm melodies, balancing the southern touches with that slight smokey, electric despair that Down seem to have matched so well." -Andrea Contanzo, Doommantia

ZED: Bay Area Heavy Groovers Ink Deal With Ripple Music; New Album Out In 2015

Today, Ripple Music has announced that it has inked a new record deal with Bay Area heavy rock and roll outfit ZED, who will be releasing their third album in 2015.

Blasting onto the San Francisco Bay Area rock scene in 2007, ZED quickly made a name for themselves with their crushing live shows and incessant grooves. Having played together in various projects since 1998, including releasing an album with the band Stitch for Prosthetic/Metal Blade Records, Guitarist/Vocalist Peter Sattari, drummer Rich Harris and bassist Mark Aceves joined up with guitar wizard Greg Lopes to create a sound that was uniquely their own, a sound whose sole purpose was to rock, with no concern for genres, labels, classifications or rules. Drawing from their varied influences ranging from classic '70s rock, punk/hardcore, metal and old school funk, ZED writes music that grabs you, throws you around and grooves you all at once. The band has been likened to "a pissed off Led Zeppelin with Chris Cornell meets Ian Astbury on vocals," ZED writes songs that linger in your head long after you listen to them.

ZED independently released their sophomore album Desperation Blues in May of 2013, which garnered critical acclaim as well as charting on CMJ throughout the summer. Supporting the album up and down the west coast, ZED has played consistently through the fall of 2014 where they are now focusing on writing their follow up to Desperation Blues which is also their debut for Ripple Music. ZED is excited and proud to be joining the Ripple Music family and look forward to making heads bob and asses shake in 2015.

VOLUME IV: Atlanta-Based Biker Doom Trio Starts East Coast/Southern Takeover This Weekend

Atlanta's VOLUME IV may have been quiet as of late, but with a huge year ahead of them and many things to announce in the coming months, they're kicking things off by taking their southern-tinged biker doom riffs on the road and laying waste to the south as well as the east coast.

11/1 Birmingham, Alabama @ The Bottletree
11/4 Atlanta, GA @ The Basement
11/7 Brunswick, GA @ HBGB
11/8 Savannah, GA @ The Jinx
11/22 Montgomery, AL @ Head On The Door
12/4 Spartanburg, SC @ Groundzero
12/5 Charlotte, NC @ The Milestone
12/6 Baltimore, MD @ Metro Gallery
12/31 Pensacola, FL @ Handlebar

Listen to Volume IV's skull-shattering 2014 release, Long In The Tooth, right here:
https://ripplemusic.bandcamp.com/album/long-in-the-tooth

Watch the haunting video for "Awake The Dreamer," which premiered on MetalSucks:
http://www.metalsucks.net/2014/07/22/video-premiere-volume-iv-awake-dreamer/

With equal parts elegant beauty and steamrolling aggression, Volume IV serve up a piece of ear candy for the ages with Long In The Tooth. This first release with Ripple Music is a concise, 36-minute thrill ride of swampy metal heroics, featuring heavy grooves, classic bluesy stoner riffs, and an overall impending sense of doom. These boys bring back the old school attitude of musical sensibility, working hard to master your instrument, and taking pride in creating a wide pallet of musical styles: Thunderous drumming locked tight within the pocket, bass guitar providing a dense foundation for the thick guitar and gritty yet melodic vocals that lay on top. In a world where everything is mechanized, click-tracked and auto-tuned, Volume IV does it the only way, the honest way, straight from the gut.

Individually the members of Volume IV have shared the stage with legendary acts such as Motörhead, Iron Maiden, Danzig, Mastodon, Corrosion Of Conformity and Down just to name a few. Led by singer/guitarist Joe Carpenter and filled out by bassist Blake Parris and drummer Troy King, Volume IV has stunned the metal world with one of the most anticipated releases of the year.

"Volume IV draw from a set of southern, '70s, biker and stoner rock, amalgamating the mix into a very spacious, slow-motion burl that possesses a deep groove."
- Metal Hammer

"What draws us to Volume IV is their willingness to step a bit outside the confines of what you might normally expect from a group of stoner/sludge/whatever beardos and longhairs."
- MetalSucks

“The riff is heavy and the groove is huge, it's biker metal done perfectly. We mentioned this release was highly anticipated, but it surpassed even our expectations.  Definitely a top ten album of the year candidate.”
- Stoner Rock BBQ

WHITE DYNOMITE to reissue self-titled debut via Ripple Music

Ripple Music is proud to announce that Boston's riff-heavy rockers WHITE DYNOMITE are set to release the vinyl re-issue of their 2012 self-titled album in October. The reissue will be released on limited edition black and colored vinyl as well as digitally via bandcamp.

Release Dates:
North America: Oct 14, 2014
Europe/UK: Oct 13, 2014

Born of boredom and bourbon, WHITE DYNOMITE are considered gentlemen of experience and true Rock City pedigree. Featuring ex-members of ROADSAW, LAMONT and WRECKING CREW, this five man band has a shared love for all things loud, fast and loose. There's more to their story than just the suits.

WHITE DYNOMITE call Boston home but their brand of action requires a map.  Jump into their jalopy for a trip thru the streets of NYC with The Ramones and The Dictators blaring thru the deck. Then shoot across the pond to London for a holiday party with Slade and T.Rex. Get back behind the wheel and swerve left into Sweden thru Hellacopters and Turbonegro country. Make a quick stop in AC/DC's Aussie garage before bouncing down Detroit's back alleys with The Stooges and MC5 riding shotgun. WHITE DYNOMITE do it all in one night.

Say what you will about the white polyester suits. Throw away the cheap shades. You can even make them bathe and shave. It won't matter. WHITE DYNOMITE have enough punk muscle and rock 'n' roll heart to deliver the dangerous goods loaded, rolling and exploding in a cloud of smoke.

The name Ape Machine is a nod to the days of reel-to-reel magnetic tape audio recording; a fitting moniker for the heavy-hitting quartet as the band plays through vintage tube amplifiers and lays down its songs using exclusively throwback quality studio equipment. With a heady mix of animal aggression and technical precision, Ape Machine's music carries an organic depth and warmth rarely heard since the time of rock's glorious early years (or your Dad's bad ass record collection) infused with an exceptional modern sensibility. When the mystical lyrics of vocalist Caleb Heinze lock in with the band's stone-cold groove, Ape Machine demonstrates an earth-shaking ability to rock. A true four-piece, the group has been called "a rock and roll band with a finger on the pulse of the '70s and their asses firmly in the present" and "real heavy-psych for the iPhone generation" that delivers "true guts and glory rock and roll."

Blending equal parts rock 'n’ roll, blues, stoner rock and psychedelia, Ape Machine is out to melt faces and pound the apathy out of otherwise jaded listeners with a wall of heavy rock n’ roll tones unheard since the days of bell bottoms, long hair and blaring tube amplifiers.

Ape Machine's mission is to combine intense melody, cutting riffs and blistering live improvisation. Where many bands rely on meticulously rehearsed, just-like-the-record-parts, they provide a live experience that is as unique as each evening it shares with an audience.

LAS CRUCES: Texan doom crew ink new contract with RIPPLE MUSIC

Burly, Texan doom rockers Las Cruces have signed to California’s Ripple Music for a world-wide onslaught of heavy rock. The group, who just completed a standout performance at the infamous Doom in June Festival, have already started writing and making demos and will enter an undisclosed studio this summer to record their Ripple Music debut and follow up to 2010's Dusk, which The Obelisk hailed as “something not to be missed by loyal doomers."

Hailing from San Antonio, Texas, Las Cruces has spent the past several years bludgeoning audiences with their doom-driven, precision sound. Originated in 1994 by George Trevino, their influences range from Venom, Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Fates Warning to vintage Sabbath. Las Cruces has risen to the top of the South Texas metal heap and left its mark across the Lone Star State, with a resume that includes opening slots with such acts as Overkill, Nebula, Kyuss, Trouble, Spirit Caravan, Solitude Aeturnus, Cathedral, Monster Magnet, Rob Zombie, Bio-Hazard, Pissing Razors, King Diamond, Mercyful Fate, Eyehategod, Crowbar, Sixty Watt Shaman, Vader, Kreator., Atomic Bitchwax, Gates of Slumber, Lo Pan, Earthride, Pale Devine, Kamelot, Sour Vein, Weedeater and many others.

Shortly after forming, Las Cruces began touring the Texas scene, gaining widespread recognition and the interest of John Perez, guitarist of Solitude Aeturnus & owner of Brainticket Records, thus forging the Debut release, S.O.L. After a year of touring Texas and the Southern States, Las Cruces decided to re-enter the studio. Driven by the hunger and sharpness of old school metal along with the power melodies of 70s rock, Las Cruces released their skull-crushing follow-up, 1998's Ringmaster. Las Cruces was invited to perform at the first-annual Stoner Hands of Doom Fest in August of 1999 and have been asked to perform regularly at many heavy rock festivals in North America ever since.

Over the years Las Cruces has gone through line-up changes and rumors of break-up. However, these things have not foiled the bands ideology.  The band was honored to be featured in The Encyclopedia of Heavy Metal by author Daniel Bukszpan in 2003 as well as in the publication Rockdetector Music Presents: Stoner, Doom and Gothic Metal series published in 2003.

Described as "a journey into a parallel sonic universe of all that is heavy," their songs are sprinkled mighty, bludgeoning riffs; barn-burning guitar work, and apocalyptic vocals that melt listener's brains. Las Cruces is poised to begin the metal onslaught for the masses as they prepare to record their fourth full-length album.

"We are absolutely thrilled to partner with Ripple Music to unleash the fourth Las Cruces record upon the underground," comments Trevino.  "Many of our friends and contemporaries have passed through the ranks and we're thrilled to march onward into the streets with them at our side."

In addition to George Trevino on guitar, Las Cruces features Mando Tovar - Lead Guitar, Paul De Leon - Drums and vocals, and Jimmy Bell - Bass Guitar

Las Cruces is available to speak with interested media now. To chat with the band, contact southernxpr@gmail.com.

Dusk is rudely riffer’s doom. I hesitate, though, to call Las Cruces traditional doom. Guitarists George Trevino and Mando Tovar know their Sabbath, but there’s a grittier, more uniquely American thrust to their tones that feels more in line with modern biker metal. There are souls being burned, Christians being slaughtered and no shortage of blood being spilled otherwise.”  -- The Obelisk

Dusk is a welcome return from Las Cruces. This is another album that will be high up on peoples list for best albums for 2010 so you will want to check it out as soon as possible. 9/10” -- Doommantia

RIPPLE MUSIC and STB RECORDS forge new partnership

Over the last few years, Ripple Music and STB Records had established hefty reputations as leaders in the heavy rock scene; blasting out killer albums of stoner, doom, heavy psych and sludge.  Both Labels have run up an impressive list of sold-out and highly sought after releases, such as Mothership, Mos Generator, Ape Machine, Poobah, Brimstone Coven, Doctor Doom, Dopethrone and Druglord.  Yet, deep down, both labels always hoped they could do more to help the underground scene reach a great audience.

Now that hope is a reality.

As of June 2014, Ripple Music and STB Records have forged a relationship that will expand upon the top-notch, limited releases by STB Records with a full complement of Digipack CD’s and Digital distribution via Ripple Music.  Both companies remain separate entities, each with their own roster of heavy-rocking bands, release schedules, and A&R, but the partnership allows the DIY Labels to work more closely together to get the music out to a world-wide fanbase that is clamoring for more.

In a very short period of time, STB Records had carved a place for itself with its boutique style deluxe, limited-edition vinyl releases. Die-hard editions, OBI editions, and multi-colored vinyl had heavy music fans salivating. Most STB releases sell out in a manner of hours and already command top dollar on the resale collectors market like Dopethrone, Spelljammer, Ancient Warlocks and Brimstone Coven.   Ripple Music established its reputation as a leading force in the resurrection of heavy rock with its keen ear for talent and partnership approach with its bands that led to a string of best-selling releases by Mothership, Mos Generator, Stone Axe, Ape Machine, Devil to Pay and Grifter as well as some highly regarded reissues of classic '70s albums and new releases by protometal giants like Leaf Hound, Poobah, JPT Scare Band and Iron Claw.  Ripple Music established a world-wide network of physical and digital distribution that it will employ to spread the CD and digital versions of STB artists around the globe.

“I’m a firm believer of cooperation amongst labels, not competition,” comments Ripple Music CEO Todd Severin. The goal is to get the music heard. Get it out there.  Help the bands. By working together in this capacity, Ripple Music and STB Records can make a huge impact.”

STB Records President, Steve Macioci agrees. “I think it’s only right that people with the same values and ethos work together for the common good. There is a DIY renaissance happening in the underground stoner rock/doom scene right now, STB and Ripple are right there at the forefront setting the plate for these amazing artists to be heard and discovered. We are carving a path for this new resurgence and its 100% DIY for music lovers by music lovers, untainted by greed or ego. It’s so exciting."

The first joint Ripple Music/STB release will be the CD and digital versions of STB’s immediate sold-out release by Ancient Warlocks, with more joint ventures to follow with the new Geezer album.

Ripple Music and STB Records. A new cooperation. A new force to reckon with in the underground heavy music scene.

Cult Acid Fuzz Rockers, Space Probe Taurus Sign Worldwide Deal With Ripple Music

RIPPLE MUSIC is proud to announce the signing of acclaimed, hard-hitting acid biker heavy rockers, SPACE PROBE TAURUS to their ever-expanding roster!

SPACE PROBE TAURUS has been around in one form or another since 1992, but it wasn’t until a name change and shortening of the songs in 1997 that the band settled down into doing what they still do today: preaching the gospel of dirty garage rock Swedish style.  Their music has been called Biker Movie Acid Fuzz and that sums it up as well as anything we could say!

Since the release of the Blue Cheer tribute CD “Blue Explosion”, by Black Widow Records, the band has been part of many compilations. And the year after saw the release of their first own record, the “Insect City” EP on Game Two/Slowdive Records. The band has also been involved deeply in the American low budget movie scene, first providing a song for the “I Am Vengeance” soundtrack (released by Meteor City Records in 2001), then having 12 songs in the movie “Actress Apocalypse”. Upcoming in 2014 is the movie “Franklin” which will include yet another song (a demo version of the song “Mondo Satan”).

In 2008 it was time for the first album, a self-titled debut released by the Belgian label Buzzville Records, which got good reviews all over the world.

Since the release of the album the band has kept writing new material, played live and kept recording new demos. In 2012 the general feeling was that a new album needed to be done, and after a long process of deciding on the songs the band started to record, what would become, the album “Mondo Satan”.

On “Mondo Satan” SPT are:

Sj̦berg Рvocals, guitars
Țmte Рguitars, backing vocals
Enberg – bass, backing vocals
Boman – drums

Mondo Satan  tracklist:
1. Scorpio Queen
2. Kill City Death Cult
3. Spahn Ranch Motherfucker
4. Make Me Bleed

5. Galaxy Travelin’ Blues
6. Superfuzzed
7. Mondo Satan
8. Dust Joint
9. The Iguana
10. The Righteous One

For the growing ranks of Ripple fans, known as the Waveriders, Space Probe Taurus will be another must-hear addition to the ranks of bands that already include such heavy rockers as Volume IV, Devil to Pay, Mothership, and Ape Machine.

“Coming from our favorite musical Mecca of Sweden, and signed to Buzzville Records, the SPT boys ask one simple question, how much fuzz can you take in your rock? Ramrodding their beastly songs right down your throat, SPT are some ungodly mix of Stooges energy, MC5 attitude, Mudhoney riffs and enough fuzz pedals to fill a fleet of 18 wheelers, this is Steppenwolf for the new millennium, maxed out, fuzzed out garage rock for the open highways.. ”
— The Ripple Effect

“Taken on its own terms this album is a bit of a speedball classic. Each track bristles with an energy and excitement that so much “stoner” rock fails to match these days. In fact this is a relentless and remorseless assault from start to finish, each song hitting a peak flow of amphetamine fuelled grit. The only respite here are the brief pauses between songs to catch your breath before the next wave of rock and roll mentalism breaks overhead.” –The Sleeping Shaman

APE MACHINE announce new tour dates; opening for MOTÖRHEAD

Portland, Oregon stoner-rockers APE MACHINE have joined forces with TKO BOOKING and now share a roster with the likes of MotörheadAnthraxSuperjoint Ritual and other legendary acts. For now, they have revealed three new spring dates in support of their latest record, Mangled By The Machine, which is out now in the Ripple Music store here

Please
contact southernxpr@gmail.com for any press inquiries, including guest list spots, photo passes and interviews.

4/13 Portland, OR @ The Know
(w/ Berri Txarrak, and Order of the Gash
4/14 San Diego, CA @ The Casbah - 2 sets on patio stage
4/15: Chandler, AZ @ Ovations Live!
(w/ Motörhead!)

Where many bands rely on meticulously rehearsed, just-like-the-record-parts, Ape Machine provides a live experience that is as unique as each evening it shares with an audience.

"Ape Machine retro-rocks for almost forty minutes in a way acts like The Sword and Witchcraft can only dream of."
- Lords of Metal

"Amidst all the hipster indie tameness of the Portland, OR, music scene, Ape Machine prove there's still some stoner salvation to be found."
- High Times

"Mangled By The Machine is just a brilliant and hard-rocking blast from start to finish. Riffs are the main selling point and Ape Machine are modern day masters of the riff. Excellent and Highly Recommended. Ignore this album at your peril!!!"
- The Sludgelord

MOS GENERATOR: Ripple Music To Reissue Classic Album ‘Songs For Future Gods’

Mos Generator

Ripple Music and MOS GENERATOR have a long history of teaming up to bring the world the best in heavy stoner rock! Now, their latest collaboration is being unveiled.

Originally, MOS GENERATOR main man Tony Reed teamed with Ripple Music to release his then active band, Stone Axe (Stone Axe I, Stone Axe II, and Stone Axe Captured Live) and both parties knew they had to work together to bring back the raging sound of MOS GENERATOR. At that time, the band had been inactive for five years, but Reed and Ripple Music broke that silence with the glorious LP/CD combination package of the 10th Anniversary re-issue of MOS GENERATOR’s long-out-of-print debut album. Originally a CD only release, this was the debut album’s first ever release on vinyl (Available in the Ripple Store).

The response was so strong that Tony Reed re-united the band and soon released the critically hailed Ripple Music release, Nomads (review here and also in the Ripple Store) which led to resurgent tours of Europe and an ever-expanding audience for the heaviness of MOS GENERATOR.

Mos Generator 'Songs For Future Gods' Artwork

Now, on the eve of their Listenable Records debut release Electric Mountain Majesty, Ripple Music and Tony Reed once again announce their team-up to bring the definitive, “Director’s Cut” version of the MOS GENERATOR masterpiece album, Songs For Future Gods. Completely remastered, this re-issue of the 2007 release (originally on Small Stone Records) features a completely new mix and two songs from the aborted recording sessions from January 2006. The digipack also features modified cover art and packaging. This is the album as it was originally intended and still redefines the sound of MOS GENERATOR, a sprawling celebration of heavy amplification, fret-board psychotropics and kick-ass heavy rock. Songs From Future Gods is classic MOS GENERATOR and this is the definitive cut of the album.

While in the Ripple Store, you can also check out Tony Reed’s solo album, Ediz Hook, his psychedelic work as HeavyPink, the classic Stone Axe albums, as well as other MOS GENERATOR LP’s, 10” and CD goodies like Tales From The Vault, The Vault Sessions, Destroy! The Mos Generator, and The Late Great Planet Earth. Keep your eyes open for more Ripple Music and Tony Reed collaborations to come soon.

Introducing HEAVY RIPPLES DISTRIBUTION!

Noting that the burgeoning underworld of stoner, doom, and heavy rock bands were under-served by the current distribution system, Racer and Pope--the head honchos of the hard-rocking Label, Ripple Music-- decided that something had to be done.  So, they put together a distribution service benefiting from their years of experience with Ripple Music. And Heavy Ripples Distro was born.

Ever since the dawn of the music industry, and especially since the recent boom in vinyl popularity, fans of physical merchandise all over the world have had one major setback: shipping costs.

Ripples Distribution is a revolutionary idea: an entirely not-for-profit, web-based store that aims to do one thing: centralize merchandise like vinyl records, tshirts, CDs, 7”s, magazines and more in one place so that fans all over the world can order them directly and avoid high shipping fees. More importantly, Heavy Ripples aims to uphold the long-standing DIY ethic that makes the new genre of heavy rock music so great.

HOW IT WORKS: Heavy Ripples teams up with labels and individual bands to bring in a handful of each individual merch item into the store, which is powered by Bigcartel. Every time an item is purchased, Heavy Ripples immediately sends ALL of the money to the band or label, and only keeps a couple of dollars to pay for shipping and website fees.

We invite labels, bands, magazines, and anyone interested in supporting underground heavy music from all over the world to join in making positive waves in the world of Heavy Ripples!
